River Great Ouse, St Neots

The Coach House

The Coach House is situated on High Street and is now part of the Greene King chain. It was formerly known as the New Inn, and is closely associated with the English Civil War, in that the Earl of Holland was detained there before his incarceration and execution at the Tower of London.

According to Playfair, the Inn is haunted by a "tall and thin figure" wearing an ankle-length cloak. It has been sighted walking across the bar area.

Guests have reported feeling uneasy at a certain spot in the bar.

The Royal Oak

The Halifax Building Society now occupies what was once the Royal Oak, at 38 High Street.

According to Playfair, the Inn was haunted by a "thoroughly nasty" smell, and an exorcism was performed there. However, the reasons for this undertaking have not been recorded.

It is not known if staff at the Building Society have experienced anything unusual.
